Roadside Attractions Book

CA$25.00

Roadside Attractions, organized by Dunlop Art Gallery and partners across the province, presented a network of contemporary art commissions around Saskatchewan during the summer of 2018. Each participating artist considered the unique histories, geographuies, and populations of their exhibition locations-factors that shaped dozens of Saskatchewan spaces into meaningful places.

While emphasizing the importance of historic downtowns and public institutions in place-making, Roadside Attractions also seeks to encourage a sense of discovery among viewers. Original artworks positioned along a 20+ hour scenic Prairie road trip create a network of unique experiences with art across the Saskatchewan Prairie – encounters range from public sculptures and site-specific installations to sound art pieces that accompany viewers as they journey through the province.

121 pages, colour illustrations, portraits, hard cover, 28 cm

ISBN: 9781988404097

AKA is an artist-run centre operating on what is colonially known as Treaty Six Land that encompasses the traditional homeland of numerous First Nations, including Cree, Dene, Plains Cree, Nakota, Saulteaux, and Ojibwe, and the homeland of the Métis Nation. Our work unfolds with a commitment to honour and continually learn about the histories of this land, and we acknowledge that our efforts to be supportive allies and to enable safe and open exchange are both ongoing and never complete.
