Opening Reception: Thursday July 3, 6:00 - 9:00pm

Ten local high school students at CNYC took part in a doctoral research project taking photos and co-constructing a narrative about their experience and perceptions of living/working near vacant and derelict sites in the West Industrial, Pleasant Hill, and Riversdale neighbourhoods.

This project will feature their photographs and 3D models of their designs for future redevelopments that support their community vision installed in the Window Gallery space at AKA. 


CNYC(Core Neighbourhood Youth Co-op) is an essential skill building and alternative education program for all youth in Saskatoon. The Community Youth Program which runs full time out of CNYC in partnership with the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools where youth can earn academic credits. Through our partnership with BGC Saskatoon, youth can also learn life, art, cultural teachings in a compassionate and supportive environment. We work with youth between the ages of 16 and 19.

CNYC promotes the values of community, cooperation, sustainability, culture, gratitude, accountability and leadership in an empowering and respectful atmosphere.

Reanne Ridsdale is a PhD Candidate at Toronto Metropolitan University. Originally from Saskatoon, and holds two degrees from University of Saskatchewan.  She is a board member at Canadian Brownfields Network and a board member at Sustainable Remediation Forum Canada. Her research focuses on how brownfields can be strategically redeveloped as vehicle for social justice in marginalized communities, specifically Indigenous communities. Sometimes, she is a sessional instructor at Brandon University, Manitoba.  She lives in Manitoba with her two young kids and her husband.
